Oxford University Press has closed the doors of its only bookshop for good.
The shop, which was located on Oxford High Street, had been closed since the first UK lockdown in March, and the decision has been made not to reopen it.
Its academic books will now be stocked in Blackwell’s on Broad Street instead, close to the press’ base on Walton Street.
In statement, the publisher said it has "entered into an agreement with Blackwell’s whereby the press will retain a dedicated display space for a range of its publishing in the Norrington Room of Blackwell’s Broad Street shop". It added: "We sincerely thank the bookshop team for all their dedication and support over the years."
It was announced this month that family-owned chain Blackwell’s is up for sale for the first time in it’s 143-year history, with Elliott Advisors, which also owns Waterstones, reportedly in talks to buy the chain.
