The Publishers Association (PA) has appointed Louis Coiffait-Gunn as director of policy and public affairs and promoted Ruth Howells to the role of director of communications.
Howells joined the PA in 2017 and has most recently been deputy director of external affairs. Her new role takes effect immediately.
Coiffait-Gunn has most recently worked in the private office of the Secretary of State for Education and as a senior policy adviser for the UK government’s Open Innovation Team. His career includes working with publishers, universities, multinationals, the media, professional associations and think tanks. He takes up his role on Tuesday 14th June.
Dan Conway, incoming c.e.o., said: “I’m incredibly excited to be welcoming Louis to the Publishers Association. He brings a wealth of experience which will be a huge support to our work.
“Ruth has been leading our communications at the Publishers Association for years. I’m thrilled that she will be continuing her excellent work, ensuring the value and concerns of the publishing industry are recognised, in her new role.”
Howells said she was “delighted” with her new role, adding “representing this brilliant industry and helping to tell its stories is engaging and rewarding".
“I am excited about the next stage for the Publishers Association and really looking forward to continuing to work with my wonderful colleagues and our fantastic members" she said.
Coiffait-Gunn said: “I can’t wait to meet the diverse mix of members, learn about their different priorities and concerns, and deepen my knowledge of publishing. More people than ever need connecting to the world’s most important knowledge, ideas and stories. It’s a huge privilege to help make that happen.”
