Pan Macmillan non-fiction publisher Robin Harvie has signed a new leadership manual, Leadership Strategy and Tactics: Field Manual, by American ex-Navy SEAL Jocko Willink.
Harvie bought UK & Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada, Australia and New Zealand) from Kerry Nordling at St. Martin’s Press.
Willink is said to provide battle-tested practices for building and honing leadership skills: building trust with superiors and subordinates, delivering truthful criticism and effective motivation up and down the chain of command, and instilling pride and discipline in a team so that it can regulate itself. Harvie commented: “Leadership Strategy and Tactics: Field Manual is the essential and practical guide to leadership, one of the most complex human endeavours. Jocko is the perfect guide due to his experiences leading Navy SEALs in battle and teaching leadership principles to numerous companies and organizations with Echelon Front. This is an informative, accessible, entertaining book on everything you’d want to know about leadership.”
Willink’s previous books include the co-authored Extreme Ownership (2015) and Dichotomy of Leadership (2018). He is a decorated retired Navy SEAL officer and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he is a leadership instructor, speaker, and executive coach. He was commander of SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser during the battle of Ramadi in the Iraq war. Jocko was awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star during his service.
The book will be published in January 2020.
