Pan Macmillan is opening up its Farringdon offices on Fridays to charities with “missions that align with its social impact work”.
The Fridays @ The Smithson initiative “aims to provide high-quality space to non-profit organisations that might not otherwise be able to afford or justify the hire of a central London location,” Pan Mac said. A variety of meeting spaces across the fourth to sixth floors can be booked for free, including the building’s loft space with views over St Paul’s Cathedral.
The offices are located at 6 Briset Street EC1M, and are also home to a growing art collection that aims to support new talent from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
Priority for the spaces will go to Pan Mac’s existing charity partners, but the company will consider any charity that aligns with the goals of its social impact programme, entitled Making a Difference. The Making a Difference programme comprises three pillars: Reading for Life (literacy); Building an Inclusive Environment (diversity, equity and inclusion); and Protecting the Planet (environment and sustainability).
Joanna Prior, Pan Mac c.e.o., said: “We’re very proud of our beautiful offices in The Smithson building here in Farringdon. Because of our flexible working policy of three days a week, we find the space is quieter on Fridays and so we’d like to use it to help further and support the work of the brilliant charities we already work with and others that share the strategic goals of our Making a Difference programme.”
People director Briony Grogan added: "Opening The Smithson to our charity partners not only amplifies our commitment to social impact but allows us to offer an inspirational space where ideas can flourish and actionable solutions can be conceived for the betterment of our society.”
