Pan Mac has scooped the “hilarious and entertaining” take on Formula 1 by racing stars Damon Hill and Johnny Herbert.
Robin Harvie, non-fiction publisher, acquired world rights to a new book by Damon Hill and Johnny Herbert from Tim Bates at PFD. Lights Out, Full Throttle will be published in hardback, e-book and audio in autumn 2020.
The publisher explained: “For the first time in book form, the sport of F1 will be discussed, dissected and celebrated by two of its most popular protagonists. Johnny and Damon each have an encyclopaedic knowledge of F1 and are two of the sport’s biggest characters. Since 2013 they have forged an on-screen partnership for Sky Sports that has been a breath of fresh air for F1. Their undeniable natural rapport will make for a humourous and highly entertaining inside look at F1 as they trade stories from the pit lane.”
Hill and Herbert have competed in 261 Grand Prix with 25 wins, 49 podiums, one World Championship and have 458 championship points between them.
“When Johnny excitedly suggested that we sit down and write a book together I immediately said yes,” said Hill. “Why? Because I knew it would be fun and I also knew it would be fresh. One thing’s for sure, it’ll be different.”
Herbert added: “When we released our autobiographies a few years ago I remember thinking to myself that Damon and I should write a book together one day about all things F1. Then, a few weeks ago, I saw Damon’s book in my office, and I thought, Why not ring him up? The rest, as they say, is history.”
Harvie said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Johnny and Damon on their hilarious and entertaining account of F1. Lights Out, Full Throttle is the perfect book for all fans of F1 and injects a much-needed shot of humour into the sport.”
