Pavilion Books has landed the first official Harry Potter knitting book which will allow fans to "cast on with needles and wands" to recreate Hogwarts’ house scarves and Mrs Weasley’s Christmas jumper.
Publishing director Katie Cowan signed the UK and Commonwealth rights to Harry Potter Knitting Magic by Tanis Gray from Insight Editions’ Erika Bradfield.
The craft guide will be published in the UK and US on 28th January 2020 in hardback. The UK publication will be accompanied by a major marketing and publicity campaign, beginning in October 2019 with pre-awareness activity at London’s annual Knitting and Stitching show.
The book offers Harry Potter enthusiasts more than 25 authentic Harry Potter knits based on items from the original films, clothing patterns, home projects and behind-the-scenes facts. Projects range from simple to complex and yarn suggestions are based on true colours used in the film series.
Cowan said: “We’re delighted here at Pavilion to be publishing the first official Harry Potter knitting book and to be bringing witchcraft and wizardry to the craft list next spring. We will all be ‘casting on’ with needles and wands come January!”
Author Gray has written more than 500 knitting guides and has worked for Vogue Knitting, Martha Stewart and HBO. She said she is “downright thrilled” to announce the book which will retail at £22.99.
