Pavilion m.d. David Graham has been appointed as the new c.e.o. of the Quarto Group UK.
The move sees Graham reunite with Pavilion owner Polly Powell, who joined Quarto initially as an advisor to chief executive C K Lau in 2019 before becoming c.e.o. of the UK business in 2020 and then group c.e.o. last year.
Zana Hanks, who has been Pavilion’s finance director since the company was established in 2013, will become Pavilion's acting m.d.
Graham's appointment comes at a time when Quarto and Pavilion are forging an increasingly close relationship. Pavilion Books recently announced it was moving UK and European sales and distribution of its titles to the Quarto Group. From 29th March 2021, all sales will be handled by the Quarto sales team and distributed alongside Quarto's own titles, by Hachette Distribution. From this date Pavilion Books International and coedition sales will be also by managed by the Quarto Group.
Graham said: “I am very excited to be joining the Quarto Group UK at this pivotal time in the company’s development. The strength and breadth of Quarto’s illustrated publishing — in both adults and children's — is mightily impressive. I look forward to helping Pavilion integrate into Quarto’s excellent international sales operation and leading the UK business as a whole to even greater success.”
Powell added: “I am delighted that David has agreed to join the Quarto Group as the UK c.e.o. We have worked together for the past seven years at Pavilion and I know his industry knowledge and experience will have a significant impact as we grow Quarto’s trade publishing profile.”
