Pellegrino takes over from Sawicka as Marjacq Scripts head of translation rights

Catherine Pellegrino has taken over as head of translation rights at Marjacq Scripts from Sandra Sawicka, who will now focus on her role as primary agent.

Pellegrino joined Marjacq in 2015, integrating writers from her own children’s agency CPA. Before becoming an agent, she worked in translation rights at Victor Gollancz, Puffin and Bloomsbury, and was briefly a scout at Liz van Lear.

In her new role she will continue to work with her writers, who include Finbar Hawkins, Roopa Farooki, Bryony Pearce, Jessica Scott-Whyte and Harriet Whitehorn, and grow her list while handling translation rights in Marjacq’s expanding list of authors.

Pellegrino said: "I am thrilled to be back working with the international publishing community and am excited to be attending Frankfurt in this new role, one which will complement and enrich my work with my own authors, whose writing I will continue to champion."

Sawicka, who represents genre fiction, with a particular focus on crime and horror, speculative fiction and teen and YA, commented: "It’s been a great pleasure looking after all the wonderful writers at Marjacq and I have learned so much about different markets and met incredible people along the way.

“I am still going to enjoy going to book fairs and pitching our great books, but I feel this is the time to focus on my growing list of authors and build from here. I’m delighted that Catherine is taking over, as I know I am leaving the list in a safe pair of hands."
