Online textbook subscription service Perlego has struck a deal with Italian publisher Mondadori Group to make 9,000 of its e-books available on the platform.
Non-fiction, science and fiction e-books will become accessible to university students who use the Perlego service. Perlego, which is active all over the world, now offers more than 980,000 publications from leading international publishers in six languages on more than 950 different topics, ranging from economics to philosophy, and management to art.
Filippo Guglielmone, trade operating director at Mondadori, said: “Perlego is one of the leading subscription e-book services in the world. This is an interesting opportunity for us to reach new users, further enhancing the prestige of our trade catalogue and of our authors with a sensitive and attentive target, such as the academic one.”
Luigi Lavizzari, region lead for Italy at Perlego, added: “We are excited to announce this important partnership with the Mondadori Group, a long-standing symbol of innovation in the Italian publishing industry. This will enable our growing user base in Italy to gain unlimited and affordable access to some of the most popular titles in Italian publishing. Crucially, it will also mean a new and proactive route to remonetising customers that Mondadori currently loses to piracy and secondary sales.”
Perlego provides university students with unlimited access to content and study tools by aggregating global publishers in an all-you-can-read subscription model.
