Anne Perry is set to join Simon & Schuster UK as editorial director of adult fiction from her role as commissioning editor at Hodder.
Perry will take up the post on 30th January 2017 and will focus primarily on the publisher’s general fiction and crime and thriller lists. Perry replaces Clare Hey who moved to Orion in the role of publishing director earlier this month.
At Hodder Perry acquired across a range of titles, from women’s fiction to historical, psychological crime and high-concept science fiction and fantasy.
Her notable titles include Sarah Lotz’s The Three, which sold in 28 countries with TV rights sold to Company Pictures; Becky Chambers’ The Long Way, which Perry spotted as a self-published novel and which has since been won multiple awards, Stark Holborn’s Nunslinger, Hodder’s first digital serial novel; and Pierce Brown’s Red Rising trilogy, a number one New York Times bestseller.
As well as commissioning, Perry managed and significantly expanded Hodderscape, Hodder’s online speculative fiction community.
Jo Dickinson, publishing director for S&S UK, said: “I am incredibly excited to welcome Anne to the S&S team. Anne is a dynamic and forward-thinking editor and I know she will make a real impact. We have significant and ambitious plans in place to grow the list and Anne’s appointment will help us deliver on our aims.”
Perry added: “I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the team at S&S. Its doing some of the most exciting publishing in the U.K. market today and I'm hugely looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that await me.”
