Keith Fox is set to step down from his role as Phaidon Press c.e.o. – and its affiliated companies The Monacelli Press and Artspace – at the end of this year.
Fox joined the arts publisher in 2014 and since then Phaidon has grown substantially. It grew from an art-focused publisher to a publisher of art, architecture, design, fashion, photography, food and popular culture books as well as illustrated books for children.
Under his tenure, Phaidon also acquired Artspace, a digital marketplace for fine art, and The Monacelli Press. He joined Phaidon after a 13 years at McGraw-Hill where he served as president of McGraw-Hill Professional and president of BusinessWeek.
As well as forming partnerships with chefs, artists, and cultural institutions, which drove new series and titles, he established publishing partnerships with a number of high-profile brands.
Under Fox’s leadership, Artspace and Phaidon commissioned 150 limited edition artworks and raised US$10m for non-profit causes.
Fox said: "Eleven years ago I was fortunate to join an organisation that prides itself on elevating bookmaking into an art form. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented group of colleagues, authors and partners to drive transformative growth of a historic and treasured brand."
The board of directors will announce the next steps in Phaidon’s leadership transition in the coming weeks.
