Philippa Sitters, previously assistant agent at David Godwin Associates Ltd, has been promoted to junior agent at the agency, where she will now build her own list.
Sitters, who has been working at DGA with Godwin and his authors for the past three years as assistant agent, will be gradually building her own list as well as continuing to assist Godwin in running the office.
On her books is Sarvat Hasin’s novel, This Wide Night, which is currently out on submission. After publishing with Penguin India last year, it was longlisted for the DSC Prize for South Asian literature. Another is "a brilliant piece of speculative fiction" from Rebecca Ley, who was recently shortlisted for the Fitzcarraldo Essay Prize.
Sitters said she hoped to populate her list with a range of books across genres, from literary to science fiction, and "incredible stories" in non-fiction, especially those helping to amplify "quieter voices".
"I’ll be looking for a whole host of books including literary and cross-genre fiction, ideally with razor sharp wit, plus I’ve a soft spot for Irish voices. Speculative fiction is definitely on my wish list, as is sci-fi and novels with a feminist angle," Sitters told The Bookseller.
"With regards to non-fiction; incredible stories, accessible history and science and anything which brings quieter voices to the fore."
