Phoenix Publishing and Media (PPM) has heralded a "significant milestone" in partnership with Springer as the two announced a deal to publish and disseminate China’s best research results to global readers.
PPM, one of the largest publishing groups in China, signed the new strategic three-year publishing partnership with global academic publisher Springer at Beijing International Book Fair on 16th June. The new co-publishing programme will focus on social sciences and humanities titles.
Through publishing and disseminating research results from China to readers worldwide, Springer and PPM aim to "share Chinese culture and academic thoughts with the world, and promote mutual understanding between the East and the West".
The first book in the publishing programme is the Dictionary of Chinese Cultural Knowledge, a total of 1,411 entries covering six major topics including ideology, social governance and literary history. Edited by Professor Xu Baofeng, the book was published in Chinese in 2021 by Jiangsu Phoenix Education Press. Springer will publish the English edition is intending to produce the German edition in the near future.
Springer and PPM will also co-publish and produce new work under both names, with PPM focusing on the Chinese market while Springer focuses on the international market.
PPM is expanding in scholarly publishing through collaborations with international partners including Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis and Brill.
