Piccadilly Press, an imprint of Bonnier Books UK, will publish three children's books by debut author Gianna Pollero.
The first title, Monster Doughnuts, illustrated by Sarah Horne, will be out in August 2021.
Commissioning editor Georgia Murray acquired world rights, including translation, in a three-book deal from Rachel Mann at Jo Unwin Literary Agency. Rights for Horne’s illustrations were acquired from Jodie Hodges at United Agents.
Monster Doughnuts is about 10-year-old Grace. Grace uses doughnuts as her secret weapon to hunt monsters: the monsters love sweet treats, but she doesn't tell them about the exploding baking powder inside.
A second title will follow in February 2022, and a third in August 2022.
Pollero commented: "I’m absolutely over the moon to be starting this journey with Piccadilly Press. Writing books for children has been a dream since I was a child myself, so the excitement and happiness I’m feeling at this moment in time is overwhelming!"
Horne added: "I jumped at the chance to illustrate monsters again—it really is one of my favourite themes. There is so much creative scope for wacky characters here. I’m very excited to work with Gianna on her debut series."
