Martin Goodman launched his novel J SS Bach (Wrecking Ball Press) with an evening of music and literature at the University of Hull on Tuesday 26th February. Goodman was joined by cellist Brice Catherine.
Nadiya Hussain discussed her forthcoming books—memoir Finding My Voice (Headline Home) and children’s title My Monster and Me (Hodder Children’s Books)—with Lauren Laverne at Hachette’s annual showcase. The event took place at the Hammersmith Apollo on Monday 25th February.
Françoise Frenkel’s rediscovered Holocaust memoir No Place to Lay One’s Head (Pushkin Press) won the 2019 JQ Wingate Literary Prize on Monday 25th February. Pushkin Press m.d. Adam Freudenheim second right collected the award on behalf of Frenkel—he is pictured alongside three of the judges; Arifa Akbar, Shoshana Boyd Gelfand and Francesca Simon.
On Saturday 23rd February, a selection of children’s authors and illustrators joined Blackwell’s Bookshop in Westgate, Oxford, for a day of events supporting the Authors4Oceans campaign.
