Katie Piper is launching a new imprint, The Unseen, with Christian publisher SPCK, “shedding light on untold stories of hope that deserve to be heard”.
The publisher said: “When Katie’s own story of courage [Piper survived severe injuries from an acid attack by an ex-boyfriend in 2008] catapulted her into the spotlight, she always knew she would one day use her platform to celebrate the grit and determination of others: now is that time.
“Launching with three real-life memoirs telling of overcoming adversity and unwavering hope, The Unseen will empower readers to own their stories and know that they too deserve to be seen.”
Piper has acquired world rights in all titles scheduled for publication, alongside publisher Elizabeth Neep, directly from the authors. The first title in the imprint, Against All Odds, comes from “stereotype-shattering” supermodel Ellie Goldstein and will be published in September 2023.
The publisher said: “Ellie has been defying the odds her whole life. Told she wouldn’t walk, talk or amount to anything, she has since become the first model with Down Syndrome to front campaigns for Gucci, Adidas and more. This jaw-dropping memoir, Against All Odds, will challenge you to unlearn everything you thought you knew about living with a disability and inspire you to see adversity as fuel for your fight.”
Against All Odds will be followed by the autobiography of performer, model and burns-survivor Sophie Lee and the true story of influencer Livi Deane, who fought a rare form of cancer as a child and has gone on to “fearlessly confront beauty norms” by baring her empty eye-socket to thousands.
