Non-fiction publishing director Poppy Hampson will leave Atlantic Books following a restructure of the editorial team, which has been made to address financial pressures faced by the company.
This role closure completes a restructure that saw three further positions close in February. The publisher has said it will announce its newly structured editorial team shortly.
"Poppy is a fantastic editor and publisher," said managing director Drummond Moir. "This difficult decision was a response to financial pressures and cost increases, and is no reflection of her talents. We thank her for the significant contribution she’s made to Atlantic’s publishing and culture in her short time here, and wish her all the very best for the future. We will all miss her enormously."
Hampson joined the publisher in September 2022 after nearly 20 years at the Vintage imprint Chatto & Windus. Since then, she has published John Kampfner’s In Search of Berlin, Robin Niblett’s The New Cold War, Juno Carey’s A Necessary Kindness and Man Booker-nominee Neel Mukherjee’s novel Choice. She has also commissioned several writers, including debut authors and prize-winners.
Hampson’s last day was yesterday, Monday 8th April, and she can now be contacted at poppyhampson@hotmail.com.
