Poppy O’Toole, Georgina Hayden and Nokx Majozi were among the five cookery and lifestyle authors spotlighted by Bloomsbury at an International Women’s Day-themed event, alongside Anna Haugh and Poppy Okotcha.
The event was hosted at Honey & Co Daily in Bloomsbury on 5th March, and was attended by national print and magazine media, retailers and booksellers. It featured a drinks reception followed by a three-course meal, with each course prepared by the authors.
Horticulturalist Okotcha created a recipe for a cocktail and mocktail, which was served to the guests as they arrived at the venue. Her book A Wilder Way (Bloomsbury), which is set for publication in April 2025, is a memoir about how tending to land can help us grow. Meanwhile, Anna Haugh — a professional chef, "Masterchef: The Professionals" judge and founder of Chelsea’s Myrtle restaurant — prepared a starter, taken from her debut cookbook Cooking With Anna (Bloomsbury), which publishes in May, and will feature 85 modern home recipes with "Irish heart".
The main course was devised by Nokx Majozi, the head pie maker at Holborn Dining Rooms’ The Pie Room. Her debut cookbook will publish in May 2025 and celebrates South African food and culture, inspired by the author’s own family recipes. Accompanying the main course was a potato salad devised by social media star Poppy Cooks, author of The Actually Delicious Air Fryer Cookbook (Bloomsbury), whose next book is to publish this autumn.
Food writer Georgina Hayden prepared a dessert from her cookbook Greekish (Bloomsbury), which publishes in April and includes recipes inspired by her Greek-Cypriot roots and travels throughout Greece.
