Former Orion publicist Poppy Stimpson will join Pushkin Press as publicity director as long-time Pushkin publicist Tabitha Pelly heads to Doubleday later this month.
Stimpson will work across all of Pushkin’s imprints including Pushkin Vertigo, ONE and Pushkin Children’s Books after a brief stint at specialist PR agency Samphire Communications.
Previously she has worked at Orion, Transworld and Little, Brown, and Transworld "masterminding a number of successful publicity campaigns", Pushkin said. These include The Travelling Cat Chronicles (Transworld) by Hiro Arikawa and The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides as well as The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo and Chip Cheek's Cape May (all published by Orion). She left Orion in August to join Samphire as its junior account director for the food, drink and travel list.
Her predecessor Pelly heads to Doubleday later this month to become senior publicity manager.
Adam Freudenheim, publisher and m.d. of Pushkin, said: "This is a hugely exciting appointment for us. Poppy brings an incredible amount of experience to the role, but just as important she is clearly a passionate reader as well as an advocate for reading and for books in general as evidenced by her own Bookstagram account and high profile within the industry."
Stimpson added: "I am thrilled to be joining Adam and the team at Pushkin Press to take up the dream role of Publicity Director across all imprints. I have long been an admirer of theirs. The ambition and quality of the Pushkin Press list is tangible and truly unique. I can't wait to get started in December."
Stimpson will join Pushkin on 2nd December and can be reached on poppy@pushkinpress.com.
