Faber’s international and digital sales director Miles Poynton is leaving the company after 12 years.
Faber paid tribute to the "exceptional" Poynton but did not confirm if he would be replaced. He revealed that he is “looking forward to the new opportunities ahead” but has not specified whether he will stay in the publishing industry.
"Miles joined Faber in 2007 he has been an invaluable and well respected member of the sales team,” the statement on Poynton's departure reads. "His experience, passion for books, professionalism and exceptional customer relationships have been instrumental in the results that Faber has achieved internationally. Working across the Independent Alliance Miles has led a team that has consistently grown the sales of this group of key independent publishers, creating many international bestsellers. In 2010 he also took on Faber's ebook sales responsibilities and built a successful strategy for the company's ebook publishing."
Faber c.e.o. Stephen Page described the outgoing international and digital sales director as "an exceptional sales professional who has worked across home and international markets”.
"His knowledge of the books and the customers and mastery of market detail has always been a great asset to Faber as we have developed over the last 12 years,” Page said. "We will miss him, and wish him the very best, and he goes with our deepest gratitude for all he has done for us over an eventful period."
Poynton said: "It’s been a huge privilege to have been part of the Faber story over the last 12 years, and to have worked with such talented colleagues, superb authors and wonderful books. I’ve loved working with amazing booksellers and such creative partners across the world, and I’ve also had the unique opportunity to develop sales for eBooks, as they became such a vital part of the publishing industry.”
He added: "I will miss my friends at Faber and the Independent Alliance but I’m looking forward to the new opportunities ahead."
