Penguin Random House (PRH) Children’s is publishing an LGBTQ+ activity book by illustrator and activist Dom&Ink next May.
Free to be Me is made up of spreads to colour and glitter and features dancing drag queens, rainbow doughnuts and an LGBTQ+ dinosaur called Brett the Sassysaurus. Users will also learn about the history of gay rights and find out about throwing a pride party.
Dom&Ink is the professional name of Dominic Evans, who said: “I cannot put into words how mind numbingly exciting it is for Free to be Me to be published by the amazing PRH team and to be out (and proud) in the world in 2019. This is the most personal work I’ve created, and writing this book helped me heal the wounds from own my coming out journey. This book is the love letter to the 17-year-old me that I needed, and I know readers across the globe will need too.”
PRH Children’s editorial director Natalie Doherty and commissioning editor Carmen McCullough acquired world rights from Lauren Gardner at Bell Lomax Moreton.
Publication is set for May 2019.
