Penguin Random House UK is recruiting for eight dedicated audio roles for the three studios which will be open in Embassy Gardens.
Richard Lennon, audio publisher at PRH, has revealed he was looking for a number of roles including a publicity manager, three editorial roles and two production roles. He told The Bookseller the team is also looking to add two operations roles, ahead of the publisher’s move to One Embassy Gardens in Nine Elms SW8 next year. Currently the audio team is based at The Strand in central London.
Lennon, who has worked at PRH for almost a decade with the last three years in audio, said: “There are eight roles we are recruiting for with two operations role along with six other roles [mentioned on Linkedin]. It’s part of the continued expansion of the team... we’ve expanded the audio marketing, the editorial team over the last few years, the operations team that supports that [editorial team] - obviously as we look ahead to having more studios in Embassy Gardens we are expanding. We have a producer Roy [executive producer at Penguin Random House Audio] who recently was shortlisted for an Audio Production Award so we have all this in-house talent already but we’re looking to grow that side of the team and bring in more dedicated production staff."
The PRH audio publishing team is growing by about 30% from 22 roles to 30.
The new roles will be based at the new PRH building in Battersea. “We are building three studios at Embassy Gardens, we have one dedicated voice studio at The Strand which is a multi-use studio. I’m very excited about the move, to have that space for audio, we are really excited about getting in, it will be a great moment for us."
Lennon is open about the experience potential applicants may have. “It’s always been interesting that our team is a mix of people who have a background in books and those who have a background in audio production, often in non-book related areas. We’re always very open-minded about the background someone might come from and want to be as inclusive as possible, and make sure we open it up to as broad a range of applicants as we can."
