Pocket guidebook publisher, Do Books, has launched an audio partnership with Penguin Random House.
Eight “inspirational” guidebooks will be available in audio format for the first time, covering flying, breathing, finding purpose, design, improvisation, leading and designing.
Miranda West, founder and publisher of the company, formerly worked for PRH as well as a number of independent publishers. She said having PRH as the audiobook distributor of Do Books marked an "exciting chapter" for the indie. “(PRH's) dedicated team, considerable expertise and presence in the market, mean that our books stand a much better chance of being discovered by new and existing readers. This is a really exciting chapter in our journey as an independent publisher.”
Launched in 2013, there are now 16 titles in Do Books’ collection of pocket guides, available in print, digital and audio formats. Designed "to inspire action and positive change", the 100-page 'how to'-style titles focus on the ‘doing’ rather than the background theory. A royalty of 5% from the proceeds of each copy sold goes back into the Do Lectures, a retreat featuring discussions in Wales, “sharing ideas to inspire action”. The publisher distributes across the UK, US, Singapore and Australia as well as a small number of bespoke stockists.
