The Printing Charity is sponsoring this year’s Best Student Book Award, one of the categories in the British Book Design and Production Awards (BBD&PA).
The Best Student Book Award is open to anyone studying in full- or part-time education on a recognised publishing, printing or design-based course in the UK and Ireland. The winner will receive a cheque for £500, a trophy at the awards evening on 16th November, and work experience with a designer, publisher or printer. The category is free to enter and the deadline for entries is 30th June 2017. Details and application forms are available from the awards’ website.
Neil Lovell, The Printing Charity’s chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to support this award. Our initiatives for young people and new talent entering the industry are a growing part of our work. Last year our education activities and partnerships helped 537 young people and we aim to increase this through growing existing and new industry partnerships in future.”
Charles Jarrold, chief executive of the British Printing Industries Federation, said: “The UK books industry is a vibrant place, so I expect that we will again see some wonderful entries in this category highlighting both the capabilities of the students coming into our industry, and the unique ability of books to showcase these. With all that The Printing Charity does to support young people in our sector, their support for this award is immensely appreciated.”
The British Book Design and Production Awards are organised by the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) in association with Oxford Brookes University, The Bookseller, The Publishers Association and BookMachine.
