Canongate has promoted Hannah Knowles (pictured) to editorial director, as Vicki Rutherford becomes the company's first head of editorial management.
Knowles will take over management of the publisher's Black Thorn crime and thriller paperback list, in addition to commissioning both fiction and non-fiction.
The newly created role of head of editorial management will involve Rutherford overseeing publishing across all lists.
Canongate's publishing director Francis Bickmore said: "Hannah has superb instincts for spotting interesting writers from all over the world as well as real zeal in championing their publications. Her promotion to editorial director is richly deserved.
"Vicki has become a cornerstone of Canongate‘s editorial team over the last eight years and she runs a tight ship. I’m thrilled to announce her promotion to this newly created role of head of editorial management, which should futureproof the efficiency and quality of Canongate’s publishing across its lists."
