Philip Pullman will open this year's Gardners Trade Show ahead of the launch of The Secret Commonwealth, with Gyles Brandreth also joining the line-up.
Pullman, in one of his few public appearances this year, will be interviewed by his long-time editor David Fickling.
The Secret Commonwealth (PRH/David Ficking Books), the long-awaited sequel to The Book of Dust, will be published on 3rd October.
Following Pullman and Fickling's talk, former politician, writer, broadcaster, and TV panellist Gyles Brandreth will take to the stage.
The annual trade show will take place on Sunday 8th September at Aston University, Birmingham, in conjunction with the Booksellers Association Conference, sponsored by Gardners. BA members will be able to attend the trade show for free.
Also talking on the day will be author Holly Bourne as well as children’s illustrator Pamela Butchart. There will also be book signings, performances from The Bookshop Band, access to more than 50 publishers in attendance, competitions, and exclusive promotions.
Nigel Wyman, head of business development UK at Gardners, said: “We are delighted with the line-up of great authors we have attending our Trade Show this year. We are looking forward to welcoming as many Independents as possible at the show, we are working on a packed schedule to make it a really worthwhile trip.”
