Quirk Books is to launch Bookpop!, a campaign designed to bring a Comic Con experience to readers via bookshops, libraries, and online.
BookPop! is a "unique opportunity" to engage readers with programming, original content and fun in real life and online, the publisher said. The campaign will launch at Waterstones Piccadilly on 29th May, with authors Ashley Poston, Sam Maggs and Hope Nicholson who will be discussing their latest titles. The event will also feature exclusive giveaways, ranging from posters and tote bags, to weekend passes for MCM ComicCon London in October.
The publisher is looking to work with bookshops across the country over the summer and autumn to host their own Bookpop! events. It will provide bespoke guides for various activities and age ranges, including the Mini-Geek Guide, which includes ‘make your own Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children-inspired vintage photos’ and ‘how to design your own superhero’, to the Grown-Up Geek Guide, which includes a Murder Mystery scavenger hunt, movie night ideas with snack suggestions, and Bloody Good Calligraphy, inspired by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
The publisher will also be offering the Mini-Geek Guides to school libraries, where they can sign up for exclusive posters and get the chance to win books.
