The Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency has promoted Rachel Yeoh and Maddy Belton to literary agents.
Yeoh joined MMA in 2019 as an intern, before becoming Madeleine Milburn’s assistant, and then – in 2021 – an associate agent. She is building a list of literary, upmarket and book club fiction.
Madeleine Milburn said: “Rachel is phenomenal member of the MMA team. She gives her all to everything that she does – and she does so much! As well as helping with my list, she has excelled in her approach to building her own by bringing exciting new talent into the agency and striking deals with major publishers, dynamic in her leadership of our mentorship programme, and infinitely generous in collaborating with colleagues. I’m so excited to see her continue all of these qualities now that she is a literary agent.”
Yeoh said: “I have learned so much from working closely with Madeleine over the past four and a half years, and feel incredibly privileged. I’m so excited to see what the future holds, and cannot wait to continue championing my remarkable authors and finding promising new talent."
Belton joined the agency as an associate agent in 2022, working with Chloe Seager in the Children’s & YA department. She began her career at Graham Maw Christie, where she worked her way up from intern to agent. Since joining MMA, she has built a list specialising in children’s fiction and non-fiction, and adult sci-fi and fantasy.
Seager said: “We’ve been blown away by Maddy’s meteoric rise since she started at the agency. Her talent spotting ability, incredible breadth of market knowledge and shrewd negotiation skills make her an exceptional deal maker. Not only has she done an astounding number of impressive deals since joining last year, but her attentive client care means she’s seeing projects to the finish line with love and ambition. All the ingredients to make the very best of agents.”
Belton said: “It has been the biggest privilege learning from and being supported by the amazing team at MMA so far, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working across Chloe Seager’s incredible list as well as starting my own. I am so excited for this next step in my career and to expand my list into new worlds, discover new adventures and love stories and continue to make magic for all ages.”
Yeoh is considering literary, upmarket and book-club fiction, as well as select narrative non-fiction, and Belton is looking for children’s fiction and non-fiction and adult sci-fi and fantasy.
