Raphaella Demetris has been appointed to the newly created role of editor at Pan Fiction, effective from June 17th.
In her new role, Demetris will report to editorial director Alex Saunders, and will work with Saunders and publisher Francesca Pathak on brand authors as well as commissioning her own titles in the commercial crime and thriller space.
At Avon, Demetris has been responsible for backlist repackaging across numerous brand authors, including Scott Mariani, Kitty Neale and Trisha Ashley and has worked with editors on authors across a range of genres, including Sunday Times bestsellers Phillipa Ashley and C L Taylor.
Demetris joined Avon in the summer of 2022 after completing the HarperCollins Early Careers Programme where she was then quickly promoted to assistant editor.
Saunders said: “Raphaella has developed an impressive understanding of the crime fiction market during her time at Avon and I am thrilled that she will be joining the team to help shape Pan Fiction’s plans for growth over the next few years. The support she will give to our brand authors as well as her fresh ideas and energy will take our crime fiction publishing to the next level.”
Demetris added: “I have long admired the publishing of Pan Fiction’s prestigious and innovative team and feel excited to be working on huge brand authors as well as emerging voices in the crime/thriller genre. I’m grateful to have started my editorial journey at Avon among wonderful authors and colleagues but am now looking forward to joining Fran, Alex and their brilliant team in this next exciting chapter.”
