Emma Paterson, literary agent at Rogers, Coleridge & White and a Bookseller Rising Star in 2018, is joining Aitken Alexander as an agent in October.
Paterson started at The Wylie Agency in 2010, before moving to RCW as Peter Straus’ assistant in 2013. Over the last five years, she has built a list of literary fiction and non-fiction that includes Sharlene Teo, winner of the inaugural Deborah Rogers Writers' Award, Elaine Castillo, Funmi Fetto, Megan Hunter, Chris Power, Ash Sarkar, and Otegha Uwagba.
Clare Alexander said: "Emma’s proven taste and entrepreneurial skill makes her a perfect fit for us. We enormously look forward to her joining us, and being a participant in our future growth."
In addition, Anna Watkins has been promoted to head of Aitken Alexander's translation rights department. Watkins will report to rights director Lisa Baker, who in turn will now have more time to developing her own client list.
