Rebecca Sinclair, Penguin Random House’s chief brand officer, and Nicole Vanderbilt, Bookshop.org’s UK managing director, have been appointed to the World Book Day trustee board.
Emma Scott, chair of World Book Day, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Rebecca and Nicole to the World Book Day board. Their industry experience, and clear passion for World Book Day’s charitable purpose, will be hugely valuable as we develop and deliver our charity’s strategy.”
The appointments are in line with the reading charity’s strategy to deliver "greater reach and increased impact” by 2027.
Sinclair commented: “We know that reading for pleasure is the single biggest determining factor in a child’s future success, yet we know from research that reading for pleasure is in decline.” She added that the charity’s work is "more urgent than ever”.
Vanderbilt commented: "I’m thrilled to be joining World Book Day as a trustee. Their work to increase children’s reading for pleasure is near and dear to my heart. It’s a privilege to work with fellow trustees, and the incredible World Book Day team.”
