Veteran football manager Harry Redknapp is penning a new book for Ebury bringing together “all the hard-fought wisdom gained from a lifetime of successes and failures in football”.
The book, entitled It Shouldn’t Happen to a Manager, will be published on 3rd November this year in time for the Christmas market. World all language rights to the book were signed with Redknapp’s advisor Peter Storrie.
Drawing on his own experiences, as well as tales from football managing greats like Brian Clough and Sir Alex Ferguson, Redknapp will cover all the “tricky elements of football management,” in his title, such as how to pick a team (and the fallout that often follows); “knowing when to swap an arm round a player’s shoulder for a boot up the arse”; the biggest bust-ups and the truth about what actually happens in the pre-match team talk, according to the publisher.
Ebury deputy publishing director Andrew Goodfellow said: “There’s only one Harry... and he has an unrivalled insight into the game that he’s lived and breathed for over fifty years. His new book gets to the heart of what good management looks like, and all the obstacles a top-class football manager faces today.”
Redknapp added: “I’ve learned a lot after forty years in football management, and I’ve put it all into this new book. If you think being a manager means just sitting watching a game for 90 minutes a week, think again. I reckon it’s one of the hardest jobs around.”
Redknapp’s new book will be published as a hardback priced £18.99.
