Bonnier Books has reported revenue growth of 7% to SEK7.4bn (£588m) in 2022 after 2021’s record results of SEK6.9bn.
The publisher’s Ebita (earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation) for 2022 was SEK385m, down from SEK573m last year as margins were squeezed by rising paper prices among other things.
The trading figures were revealed in a report by Swedish parent company Bonnier Group, released on 9th February. UK results were not broken out but the company did reveal that audio subscription service BookBeat grew to more than 700,000 subscribers last year.
Erik Haegerstrand, c.e.o. of Bonnier Group, said: “We can be quite satisfied with the financial results for 2022. [They] exemplified the advantage and security of having diversified operations, which reported relatively stable earnings overall. But our growth and earnings must continue to develop.
“The overall picture for 2022, as well as for the start of 2023, means we are optimistic about the upcoming year, both in terms of the core business and investments in existing areas. With our strong cash position, there are also many exciting opportunities for new investments and acquisitions.”
