Independent children’s publisher Magic Cat has appointed Richard Johnston to its board as a non-executive director.
Johnston was formally c.e.o. of the production company Endemol Shine UK, prior to which he held the roles of c.o.o. and c.f.o., overseeing numerous companies and integrating acquisitions into the group over his 24 years at the company. He brings a wealth of experience across broadcasting, licensing, finance and operations, and has served on a number of boards, including LAMDA, CariFit Ltd and Screen Skills, which he chaired.
Johnston will advise Magic Cat on its long-term growth strategy, helping the company realise its revenue and profitability goals, broadening its partnerships and “realising the full potential” of its intellectual property.
Commenting on Johnston’s appointment, Rachel Williams and Jenny Broom said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to Magic Cat’s board of directors. His breadth of experience in adjacent industries, together with his financial acumen and can-do attitude will be a huge asset to the company moving forward. We are excited to get to work!”
Johnston added: “I couldn’t be more delighted to be joining such a dynamic and creative team, and helping Rachel and Jenny take the company to the next level.”
