Alex Robinson has been appointed chief commercial officer for Taylor & Francis, effective from 8th August.
In his new role, Robinson will report to chief executive officer Annie Callanan and be a member of the executive leadership team.
Robinson joined the company in 2008 as a global marketing manager. Most recently he has led the commercial strategy for the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, a position held from September 2020. Prior to his regional commercial role, Robinson served as a marketing and business development leader in the publisher’s advanced learning division.
On 8th August, Christoph Chesher, the current chief commercial officer, takes up the part-time position of executive director for Taylor & Francis, reporting to the c.e.o. and working on several specific projects.
Callanan said: “Alex will now lead our 300+ strong commercial function in a fast-moving, ever-changing and increasingly dynamic market landscape, and I am very much looking forward to working with him on our goals – especially in the Open Research area.”
Robinson said: “Christoph will be a hard act to follow, but by continuing with our focus on working closely with key partners and customers we will continue to deliver value, choice, and impact for researchers, readers, funders, and learners of every kind, in increasingly diverse markets. I am looking forward enormously to building on the great strides Taylor & Francis has already made in these areas.”
A recent trading update from parent company Informa showed that Taylor & Francis saw underlying revenue growth of 3.5% during the first five months of 2022 with a particularly strong performance for the company’s pay-to-publish arm.
