Nielsen is in the running for the ‘books for older readers’ prize with Optimists Die First (Andersen Prize) and is up against Ink by Alice Broadway (Scholastic) and I Have No Secrets by Penny Joelson (Electric Monkey/Egmont).
Four further books are shortlisted for the ‘books for younger children’ award: Edgar and the Sausage Inspector by Jan Fearnley (Nosy Crow), Mrs Mole, I’m Home! by Jarvis (Walker), The Secret of Black Rock by Joe Todd-Stanton (Flying Eye Books), and I Dare You by Reece Wykes (Andersen Press).
The Children’s Book Award, previously known as the Red House Awards, is voted for by children, who now have until 18th May to vote for their favourite titles online.
The category winners and one overall winner will be announced at a ceremony in central London on 9th June.
