Rutgers University Press (RUP) is launching a European base, moving into the same Oxford building as Princeton University Press (PUP).
RUP will be sharing offices with PUP, which recently moved into a premises at 99 Banbury Road, Oxford. It shares the space with The Voltaire Institute and the Higher Education Policy Institute.
Micah Kleit, director of RUP said the European move has come at a time of "dramatic growth" for the company and the press’s output has increased from 75 books in 2016 to more than 150 in the past fiscal year. "Accompanying that growth has been a shift in our publishing list toward subjects of interest to an international audience," he said.
"As our list becomes more global, we feel it’s important to have a presence outside the US to reflect the strength of the list and aid in its continued success", he continued. "We look forward to building relationships in the UK that will help our staff, authors and our international partners to continue the global reach of the press and to fulfil an exciting new chapter in the growth of the press. And we are thrilled to start it with this significant and rewarding collaboration with Princeton University Press."
Director of PUP Christie Henry added: "The PUP team has thrived in its new location, and are grateful to the Oxford community for a lovely welcome. That we can now share this experience with a peer university press and support Rutgers in its international publishing ambitions and impact is a source of joy and excitement for all of us."
