Ruth Logan – formerly head of rights at Bonnier Books – has been appointed rights director at Pushkin Press, which has previously sold rights directly or via subagents.
Logan will handle rights across all of the house’s imprints, comprising Pushkin Press, Pushkin Vertigo, Pushkin Press Classics, Pushkin Children’s Books and ONE.
The rights director’s career began in the rights department of Jonathan Cape, before briefly joining Deborah Rogers. She then moved to Bloomsbury, where she stayed for over 20 years at, working across the adult list while helping to establish the publisher’s children’s list. Logan moved to Hot Key Books shortly after its launch in 2012, as Bonnier Books expanded into adult publishing, working on behalf of Zaffre and Black and White.
"I love what Pushkin publish and how they do it," Logan said. "I’ve admired the list from afar for a while now and am proud and delighted to have a role in such a vibrant and exciting company."
Adam Freudenheim, Pushkin Press publisher and managing director, added: "Ruth has been working on Pushkin’s children’s list on a freelance basis for a little while now, but I’m pleased that she will be joining us to sell rights across all our lists. In recent years we’ve put more emphasis on acquiring rights, and it will be a privilege to have someone as experienced and widely known and admired as Ruth representing our lists."
Logan is in post as of April and can be reached on ruth@pushkinpress.com.
