Publisher Sage has bought online primary sources publisher Adam Matthew, best known for digitising the mass observation archives at the university of Sussex.
Adam Matthew's research and teaching collections, sourced from libraries and archives internationally, cover a wide range of subject areas from medieval family life to 20th century history and culture.
Global publishing director Ziyad Marar [pictured] said: “We have found tremendous similarities in our company values, approach to publication and our passion for high quality content: this is a venture that fits strongly with Sage’s strategic direction and we are excited to welcome Adam Matthew to the Sage group.”
Stephen Barr, president of Sage International, said his company was "ideally placed to help Adam Matthew grow its international reach without compromising on its company values", adding: "We are confident this is a move that will be welcomed by our library partners.”
Adam Matthew will continue to operate under its existing management from its offices in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and Chicago, Illinois.
