SAIL Fest, the new festival dedicated to celebrating, connecting and empowering South Asian children’s authors, poets and illustrators, has announced a new bi-monthly book club and virtual book launches. The announcement was made at this year’s Children’s Conference, held on Monday 30th September.
The virtual book launches will be offered three times a year from February 2025, with publishers and authors having the option to pool resources and combine their books to create a bigger virtual launch for the community, with sales being handled by the Children’s Bookshop, Muswell Hill.
The bi-monthly book club will be announced in October and hosted from November 2024. Both these initiatives will be open to all readers, parents, librarians and teachers across the country.
Chitra Soundar, co-founder of SAIL Fest said: “We want to build on the success of our inaugural festival and continue to offer a platform that champions South Asian creatives and their work. We hope that virtual book launches will amplify the voices of our authors, illustrators and poets, and help them access a wider network of readers across the country. The SAIL Fest Book Club will be a tangible route to introduce existing and new readers to South Asian books and their creators.”
