Sam Birmingham has been appointed director of international rights at Trident Media Group, reporting to Robert Gottlieb and Ellen Levine.
Birmingham has previously held roles at Sebes & Bisseling and WME. In his new role he will lead Trident’s international rights strategy. Trident will continue to sell directly into the UK and major translation territories.
Trident Media represents such clients as Catherine Coulter, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Deepak Chopra, Michael Ondaatje, the late Russell Banks and Marilynne Robinson, as well as the Dune Estate, Katie Kitamura, Laila Lalami, Marlon James, Tony Tulathimutte and Andrew Lipstein. Birmingham’s appointment underscores Trident’s "commitment to expanding global opportunities" for its authors.
"All of Trident are delighted to have Sam join the firm," said chairman Robert Gottlieb. "Sam has a range of experiences in international rights and a wonderful wide-ranging skill set and insights, which all our colleagues and clients will benefit from."
Birmingham added: "I’ve long admired Robert’s unparalleled group of agents and their ethos of representation. To represent each distinguished author and make their voices heard around the world will be an honour."
