Sandra Dieckmann signs two-book deal with HCG

Hachette Children’s Group (HCG) has signed a two-book deal with author and illustrator Sandra Dieckmann.

HCG will publish two picture books by Dieckmann on the Hodder Children’s Book imprint, starting with Waiting for Wolf, which is about the loss of a loved one, in September 2019.

Waiting for Wolf tells the story of the friendship between Fox and Wolf, who do everything together until one day Wolf is no longer there.

Emma Layfield, group picture book director, said: “Sandra is an incredible new talent who blends fable-like language and dashes of magic in her work. Her stunning array of colours, detail and natural world are showcased in spectacular fashion in Waiting for Wolf, a beautiful and heartfelt story about the loss of a loved one and the memories that comfort those left behind.”

Layfield struck a deal for world rights from Felicity Trew at the Caroline Sheldon Agency.
