Rose Sandy is joining HarperCollins division HQ in the newly created role of publishing director, non-fiction.
Sandy, currently affiliate publisher for HarperChristian 360 and publisher of imprint Harper Inspire, will join HQ on 1st July, reporting to executive publisher Lisa Milton.
She joined HarperCollins in 2014 from the independent publishing business she launched, Silver Gravity Publishing, which publishes her own thriller novels. Sandy previously worked at Sony, Coca-Cola and Cisco Systems. A passionate advocate for inclusion, she recently created the HarperCollins Author Academy for underrepresented authors.
Sandy said: “HQ is an incredibly forward-thinking imprint growing faster since launch than any other imprint. I look forward to publishing bold and timely non-fiction and returning to the commercial market, where my career began in the entertainment and technology industries. I’m proud to join a legacy that publishes trend-aware projects, is reflective of current interests, and has lasting impact.”
Milton added: “Rose joins HQ to lead our non-fiction team at a time of considerable growth and success both at home and internationally. Kate Fox and team have done a remarkable job, publishing BOSH! and Claudia Winkleman’s Quite and June Sarpong’s group-breaking Diversify, as well as HQ’s two overall industry number ones, Skincare and Finding Freedom. I am delighted that Rose has agreed to join the team and I have no doubt that she will help us to create our next phase of stellar growth.”
