Bloomsbury has appointed Sarah McLean as international sales director with responsibility for the adult trade, adult special interest and children’s lists.
McLean will join the company in January and replaces Jacqueline Sells, who left Bloomsbury in September. She will report to Kathleen Farrar, m.d. of group sales and marketing.
Farrar said: “I’m delighted to welcome Sarah McLean to Bloomsbury. Her wealth of experience in the international markets, her drive and strategic thinking will be a great benefit to Bloomsbury’s award‐winning and bestselling authors and illustrators. The international markets are of utmost importance to us and Sarah is just the person to handle and grow Bloomsbury’s international sales as we move through unprecedented change.”
McLean has over 14 years' experience having worked across both educational and trade publishing, and most recently worked at Pan Macmillan, where she helped build audiences for authors such as Jeffrey Archer, Jessie Burton, Joe Wicks and Hanya Yanagihara.
“I am fortunate to have worked at Pan Macmillan for seven years, selling an incredible list and working alongside many talented colleagues,” she said. “I am looking forward to joining Bloomsbury at an exciting time when the company is being increasingly recognised across the industry for its outstanding publishing. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to this ongoing success in international markets, as well as to work with books and authors I have long admired.”
