Little Tiger has appointed Sarah Shaffi, co-founder of BAME in Publishing and former online editor and producer at The Bookseller, as its editor-at-large.
The independent publisher created the role to improve inclusion and representation across the group and Shaffi will work with all of the company’s creative teams.
Little Tiger c.e.o. Monty Bhatia said: “Diversity has been on the agenda in our industry for the past few years, but it’s only really in the last 18 months or so that we have begun to see words turn to action… Sarah has been a fantastic and tireless advocate for change within publishing and I’m delighted that she will be bringing valuable insight, integrity and market knowledge to her new role with us.”
Shaffi, who also reviews books for Stylist magazine, said: “Little Tiger is passionate about inclusion, and has been taking action to make sure it is diverse and representative, and not just talking about becoming so. I hope to find some stunning new authors and illustrators from a variety of backgrounds, helping build on the work already done by the company. I'm delighted to have taken on this new role.”
