Bonnier Books UK has appointed Andrew Sauerwine to the newly created role of group sales and strategy director of trade.
He replaces former group sales director Elise Burns, who left the company in August. The expanded role has been created to help scale the business “amid a rapidly changing retail landscape,” the publisher said. From February 20th 2023, Sauerwine will report directly to c.e.o. Perminder Mann.
Sauerwine has 20 years of industry experience, including sales roles at Penguin Random House and Bloomsbury, as well as former Bonnier Books UK non-fiction division Kings Road Publishing. After leaving Kings Road Publishing in 2019, Sauerwine set up a consultancy business, Commercial Publishing Consultancy.
Mann said: “I’m thrilled that I’ve managed to persuade Andrew to return to Bonnier Books UK, as we prepare for our next phase of growth. I’ve long admired Andrew’s creativity and analytical, strategic mindset and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the senior leadership team to continue to shape our exciting and ambitious plans for the future."
Sauerwine said: “I’m hugely excited to be joining the Bonnier Books UK leadership team as the business looks to move from a period of considered consolidation into a new phase of growth.
"Bonnier has clearly evolved a great deal from the business I left behind in 2019, but it is also clear to me that its dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit, embodied by the c.e.o. Perminder Mann, is very much alive and at the core of their vision for the future.
“Although this opportunity was too good to turn down, I would also like to sincerely thank all the partners I’ve worked with throughout my time as a consultant. Without exception you’ve been a joy to work with and I look forward to seeing your continued success in years to come.”
