Marilia Savvides has been promoted to agent in the books department at Peters Fraser and Dunlop (PFD).
Her previous role was as agent in the foreign rights department, and she was promoted to the books department earlier this month. Savvides joined PFD seven years ago, and was a Bookseller Rising Star in 2018.
Tim Bates, head of books at PFD, says: “Marilia has been developing her own list of authors for the last few years alongside her work in foreign rights. The first book she represented was E O Chirovici’s The Book of Mirrors, which became an international sensation, selling in 40 territories for total advances in excess of seven figures."
He added: "More recently, she discovered James Delargy’s debut thriller, 55, which has so far been sold in 21 territories and which has also been optioned by Zucker Productions in partnership with Prodigy Pictures. Marilia has already proven that she has brilliant taste and great commercial judgement, and we look forward to her developing her list of fiction and non-fiction, and unearthing many future international bestsellers.”
