Scholastic UK has announced a global publishing deal with 9 Story Media Group and Karma’s World Entertainment for a new Netflix series.
The deal is for "Karma’s World", the new CGI animated series from creator Chris Bridges. It was brokered by 9 Story Brands, the dedicated brand management and consumer products division of the media group, with Scholastic securing global rights to the property across all storybook formats.
The first book will launch in January 2022, with the programme including an original chapter book for children between the ages of seven to nine. A guided journal and a picture book co-authored by Bridges and Halcyon Person will be published later in the year, in summer 2022.
Karma’s World titles will be launched in North America, the UK and Australia, with more global markets to join later.
“We are thrilled to partner with Scholastic on this ground-breaking brand,” said Kristen Lecour, co-vice-president of consumer products for 9 Story Brands. “We couldn’t have found a better partner to work with on 'Karma’s World'.”
“From the moment we saw the pitch desk, we knew we wanted to be the publisher for 'Karma’s World',” said Debra Dorfman, vice-president and publisher of global licensing, media and brands for Scholastic. “We can’t wait to spotlight Karma’s unique and powerful voice.”
