Scholastic has announced an illustrated edition of The Hunger Games, which will publish on 1st October 2024 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, with a US first printing of 250,000 copies.
The new edition of Suzanne Collins’ bestseller will be illustrated by artist Nico Delort and feature more than 30 black-and-white illustrations.
In addition, Scholastic UK will be reprinting the Deluxe Hunger Games Collection hardback box set after it went viral on TikTok and sold out last autumn. The Collection will be available from 6th June.
Scholastic said that, to date, more than 100 million copies of all four books in the series existed in print and digital formats worldwide, and foreign publishing rights for the Hunger Games series had been sold in 54 languages.
Collins said: “Certain illustrations made an indelible impression on me growing up, and the images are forever linked to books I love, including John Tenniel’s classic drawings for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Fritz Eichenberg’s wood engravings for Wuthering Heights. I’m thrilled with Nico Delort’s striking black-and white scratchboard artwork for The Hunger Games and feel it will have the same lasting influence on a new generation of Panem readers.”
David Levithan, Scholastic’s vice-president, publisher and editorial director, added: “Those of us who have been enthralled by the world of the Hunger Games for the past 15 years will have new reason to be spellbound, as this new illustrated edition gives us both a reason to reread the novel, which continues to resonate, and a chance to see it with new eyes, through the extraordinary vision of Nico Delort.”
