Scribe has appointed Maria Bedford editorial director of its UK office.
Bedford had previously been editorial director at Penguin Press, where she commissioned non-fiction and classics. Her authors include Nathan Thrall, Benjamin Moser and Stephen Sexton, and the Sunday Times bestselling Robin DiAngelo.
At Scribe, Bedford will focus on acquiring non-fiction primarily.
Bedford said: "I’m delighted to be joining Scribe with their rich and dynamic list, and looking forward to leading on non-fiction commissioning in the UK."
Scribe’s founder, Henry Rosenbloom, said: "We’re thrilled that Maria has joined us to spearhead the next of stage of our development."
Elsewhere at Scribe, there have been two promotions: Laura Ali, previously assistant editor has been made junior editor, and Nicola Garrison has gone from publicity and marketing executive to publicist and marketing manager.
